Driver's License Revocation and Reinstatement

Denver Criminal Defense Law Firm Assists with License Restoration

Castle Rock DUI Defense Attorney Will Help Get You Back Behind the Wheel

A driver in Colorado who has had their driver’s license suspended, revoked, canceled, or denied must go through a process known as reinstatement to get their driving privileges restored. The process can only occur after the conditions of the revocation, suspension, cancellation, or denial have been satisfied and the driver has served all the time required according to all the restraint actions.

Steps to Get Your Colorado Driver’s License Restored

After a driver’s specific reinstatement requirements have been identified and satisfied the driver’s license will be reinstated. Reinstatement requirements can be obtained on the Colorado Department of Revenue website and reinstatement documents can be filed on-line, which will expedite the reinstatement process. Reinstatement requirements may include the following:

  • Complete the Application for Reinstatement form and return it to the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Pay the required reinstatement fee.
  • Purchase and carry SR22 vehicle liability insurance for one year. Those who have a prior alcohol violation or were involved in an accident will have a three-year SR22 insurance requirement.
  • Complete a Level 1 alcohol education course.
  • Successfully test for a new license by taking the eye, written, and driving exams.

Reinstatement and Interlock Installation

You will be required to wait until your eligibility date to actually receive your driver’s license, although it will be necessary for you to begin the reinstatement process one month earlier than the actual eligibility date.
